WHAT HONEY BONES DID
Bodeguita del Diablo is a mezcalería & cocktail space filled with culture, folklore, and connection. It also carries its own line of mezcal, bringing the experience beyond the bar and into the product itself. When the owners of Docecuarenta came to me to design the brand, it felt instantly aligned. Sitting on Cañón del Diablo, the concept was already tied to place, and with a Mexican folk story connected to the canyon, we knew we wanted to bring that into the brand.
As we developed the identity, the focus shifted into creating something that feels immersive and lived in. The brand needed to feel like stepping into an old bodeguita that had been converted into a hidden mezcal bar, with hand-painted signs and bold graphics throughout. The visual direction pulls from traditional Mexican masks, reimagining diablo faces as expressive characters full of mischief, charm, and spirit. The forms feel textured, slightly imperfect, and full of movement, designed to mirror the feeling of the space as people gather, drink, and connect. At the center of it all is a simple idea that kept guiding the brand forward, Baila con el diablo.

Cuando empezamos nuestro proyecto de mezcal, sabíamos que Christine era la persona indicada para crear la identidad de la marca. Tiene una forma muy especial de integrar el storytelling y la esencia de México en su trabajo. Para nosotros era muy importante resaltar las historias del folklore tradicional mexicano, pero al mismo tiempo crear algo que se sintiera abierto y acogedor para todos. Christine logró capturar ese balance de una manera increíble, creando una marca con mucha personalidad.
